Privacy Policy

EconoQuest is operated by the EconoQuest team. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@econoquest.app.

For account holders, meaning teachers and registered students:

• Display name and email address
• A hashed password. We never store the password itself
• Account role, class membership, and the content you create
• Activity needed to run the product, such as sessions hosted and assignment attempts

For learners who join a live session without an account:

• The display name they type when joining
• Their answers and score for that session

Joining a live room does not require an account, an email address, or any other personal detail. A display name can be a nickname.

• To run live sessions and assignments, and to show results to the teacher
• To let teachers organise learners into classes
• To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse
• To understand which features are used, so the product can be improved

EconoQuest is designed for classroom use and is intended to be introduced by a teacher or school rather than signed up for directly by a child.

Learners can take part in a live session without creating an account or providing any personal information. Where a school or teacher creates accounts for learners, the school is responsible for obtaining any consent required in its jurisdiction, and we act on the school’s instructions in respect of that data.

If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, contact privacy@econoquest.app and we will delete it.

• Account data is kept while the account is active, and deleted on request
• Content you create is kept until you delete it or close your account
• Live session records, including anonymous player names and scores, are kept so teachers can review results, and are deleted when the teacher deletes the session or closes their account

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers needed to operate the product, such as our hosting and database providers, and only so they can provide that service to us.

We will disclose data where we are legally required to do so.

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority.

Passwords are stored hashed, and session cookies are signed so they cannot be forged. No system is perfectly secure, so if you believe an account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects account holders, notify them. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
